Le Costa Rica est devenu la référence absolue en matière d'environnement et la destination préférée des amoureux du tourisme vert. Le pays a pourtant quelques zones d'ombre. Son agriculture utilise un taux de pesticides record par hectares cultivés. Notamment dans les plantations d'ananas, dont il est le premier producteur mondial. Les conséquences sanitaires sont parfois très graves pour les ouvriers qui y travaillent. Autre problème : le braconnage de bébés tortues. Une police spéciale a été créée pour lutter contre cette nouvelle forme de criminalité.
